During extended holidays, equipment left idle for prolonged periods is prone to issues such as rail corrosion, deterioration of cutting fluids, and electrical component moisture. To ensure stable operation and a smooth resumption of work after the break, Shinming Technology has compiled key guidelines for the shutdown, use, and maintenance of Dean machine tools:

I. Pre-Stop Maintenance Procedures

  1. Whole-machine cleaning Clean the machine table, guideways, turret/tool magazine, and chip conveyor of metal chips, oil contamination, and residual cutting fluid; wipe down the machine’s exterior to prevent contaminants from adhering over time and causing corrosion.
  2. Rust prevention for transmission components Apply ample anti-rust oil to the linear guides and ball screws; move the worktable and spindle to their central, safe positions, remove the cutting tools, and relieve sustained stress on the components to prevent rust‑induced deformation.
  3. Cutting Fluid Management Check the cutting fluid’s concentration and pH; for extended shutdowns, it is recommended to ensure proper sealing and protection. If the machine will be idle for an extended period, drain the cutting fluid tank to prevent degradation, bacterial growth, and corrosion of the piping and pump housing.
  4. Electrical System Protection After machining is complete, turn off the machine tool’s operating power and verify that the main power supply has been disconnected. Clean dust from the electrical control cabinet’s cooling system, and in humid workshop conditions, apply moisture‑proof covers to prevent circuit boards from becoming damp and causing short circuits.
  5. Air source treatment Shut off the equipment’s air supply, drain any accumulated water from the piping and air receiver tank, and prevent moisture from causing corrosion of pneumatic components.

II. Precautions for Equipment Monitoring During the Holiday Period

  • If production needs to be temporarily halted during a holiday, inspect lubrication, air pressure, and coolant levels before each startup, and monitor the equipment for unusual noises and alarm messages during operation.
  • Unattended production must prioritize safety measures, undergo regular inspections, and eliminate potential safety hazards.

III. Post-Holiday Return-to-Work Startup Inspection

  1. Before energizing, ensure the workshop environment is dry and inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of moisture.
  2. Upon startup, first activate the lubrication pump to supply oil, then perform a no-load, low-speed trial run to verify that the guideways and spindle operate without any abnormal noises.
  3. Recheck the air pressure and coolant condition, remove the anti-rust oil, perform a trial cut to verify accuracy, and proceed with formal production only after confirming no abnormalities.
